Processing Method: When the Cassia Vera tree is 2 years old, the bark peels off the stem and is then cut into sticks which are then dried
Inspiration:
- spice for mulled/spiked wine, tea and punch, but also for many cold cocktails, herbal liqueurs and anise-based drinks
- it goes well with citrus and spices like cinnamon and cloves
Fun Fact:
- the star anise must be distinguished from the japanese anise, which is poisonous
- it has soothing properties, it is recommended to use or to smell it before bedtime for calming and to fall asleep faster
